e-News What’s news from the Board

Our annual financial meeting held in Sydney last weekend had our Councillors in meetings for a day and a half.

On the agenda for 2024 is a new Strategic Plan to be unveiled at our next AGM. Member input will be sought through our SP contractors in the next few months.

Fullbloods: There will be a Fullblood register separate to the Simmental register. Both parents must be registered as Fullbloods for the progeny to also be in the register. The grade will still be a P as far as the grading table is used and will have Fullblood noted on their certificates.

SPR register: We have had inquiry from Commercial members wishing to have access to IGS evaluations and advise that the SPR register can be used for this purpose. Please contact Felicity if you need further information.

Grades in Tattoos: Our Bylaws for Tattoo and Branding is now in line with no need for an animal’s grade in the tattoo. It is not a requirement to have the Grade in the brand and it is now not a requirement to have the Grade in the tattoo. Updated Bylaws will be put on the website shortly.

Black Simmentals: Recent investigation found a large number of Black Simmentals registered in the Simmental register. We have put in place that an error will arise if a member or staff try to register a black or grey animal in the Simmental register. You will be asked to rectify the register to Black Simmental or SimAngus depending on those rules of content.

Schedule of Fees: It was realised that our schedule of fees has not risen in line with the CPI since last set in 2015. ASBA has had to bring those fees in line with inflation and a new set of fees will be uploaded onto the website, to take affect from 1 January, 2024.

DNA Invoicing: From 1 January, 2024 all DNA requests will be invoiced at the time of the request being processed by the office.

Genetic Hub: ASBA and Genetic Hub are working on streamlining procedures over the next few months and ask that all registration requests be forwarded to office@genetichub.com.au and not Simmental directly, so as all incoming requests can be tracked in one inbox. Any phone inquiries are also to be made to 02 6933 1214 and not the Simmental mobile for the same purposes. If you have any issues, the Hub asks that you also send feedback in the same manner.

Regards
Felicity Reeves
Executive Officer
